The class is meant for students from kindergarten to first grade.The reason behind this class is to help students build up their knowledge on the basics of science in Maine. They are taught about the elements and how they come together. Along with learning about these basic building blocks, they are also taught about the characteristics of different things, which will help them in their future career.The teacher of Ap Chemistry Tutor, Michelle Edwards, has been teaching high school subjects for a long time. She is a special education teacher, who has been helping children for more than twenty years. After years of teaching, she realized that some of her students had a problem with reading, writing and arithmetic.After realizing this, she started working with the children of a local school to see what could be done to improve their interest level. She is also one of the founders of the Maine Learning and Behavior Center. This center aims to teach children with learning difficulties. With this, she came up with the idea of doing a class for students in kindergarten and first grade.After two months of preparing for the class, she was surprised to find that she had not enough materials to prepare a science project for her students. Fortunately, other teachers advised her to put together an Abridged version of a class, since there were already some materials available for the class. Therefore, she decided to have her students learn all about the elements of nature, how they came together and how to differentiate between one and another. These lessons were an effort to help them in their later years.At the beginning of the class, the teacher began by teaching the students about the basics of biology and chemistry. In fact, this subject is part of the national standards in Maine. One of the first things the students learned about was carbon. As they learned about c arbon, they then learned about oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, nitrogen, hydrogen, and potassium.When the kids finish their first lesson with Ap Chemistry Tutor, they will already have learned about the properties of the six natural elements. However, Michelle explained that they have to continue learning and understanding the properties of the other seven elements. At the end of the lesson, the students will also be given assignments about each of the six elements. The assignment for this lesson will be to understand why one element can be combined with another element to create a new element.Overall, Michelle said that the students have shown a great interest in this class. Although there are some children who have already started to feel that they know everything about these elements, some of them are still having problems with the concept. She is happy that she was able to provide a practical lesson to those children.

Almost half way through the italki Language Challenge and Im still alive! I havent been swallowed into the depths of German grammar never to return, nor have I been so overwhelmed Im rocking back and forth in the corner. Nope. Still going, still learning and still loving it. I made a rough plan of when Id need to have lessons each week to achieve the challenge, fitting them around life accordingly. Unfortunately, Chinese New Year isnt marked on my year view calendar and seeing as my German tutor lives in China, I suppose there was always bound to be some disruption. We seem to have come out the other end surprisingly not too far behind what Id anticipated at this point, which is good news. As for my German? I am feeling much more confident and prepared for my oral exam in May, which back at the start of the year was a big scary thought! The good news? I still have 11 lessons to go (1 later today Im not that far behind my schedule!) and Im quite excited to see how I feel speaking German after these additional lessons. Stay tuned as Ill be posting a video of my progress after all 20 lessons (eek!). That sounds good! Can I do it? Unfortunately, the deadline for this italki Language Challenge has passed but the site is open all year round with an abundance of tutors in a huge choice of languages. Im even on there myself as an English tutor. ?? Great! So I just chat for an hour? You can make the lesson as intense or relaxed as you like it. If youre after some hardcore grammar or starting from scratch, maybe a professional tutor would be the way to go. However, if you already have a sprinkling of the language you want to learn, there are also community tutors on offer, which is great if you need conversation practise to boost your language! Is that all I have to do to become fluent? If youre a genius, maybe. But unfortunately, most of us need to use loads of different sources with different approaches to pick up a language to a good level books, CDs, apps etc. Although, many polyglots, including Benny Lewis (who knows a thing or two about learning languages!), swear by speaking the language with a native speaker as soon as possible to get ahead. How can I make the most of italki lessons? Id recommend using Anki to learn vocabulary. If you have this open in the background whilst youre with your italki tutor, you can quickly and easily add any new words to your learning list! Also, italki always recommends that you write a Notebook entry after each lesson to reinforce what youve learnt. Ive never personally done this (oops!) but whether or not you write it on the Notebook page for natives to correct or in your own private notebook, it will definitely help you to revise what youve just learnt. Most importantly is probably when and where you do your lessons. Ive already written about the benefits of taking a lesson in a public space, but sometimes being on your own in a quiet space can be just as effective. Try both and see what works for you. Also, take time to decide whether you are more alert in the morning, the evening, on your lunch hour, at weekends.
